OH CANADA

Canada, what a beautiful country! We have so much to celebrate this Canada Day, so much to be thankful for. Canada is a vast country with maritime provinces, mountains, lakes, prairies and more. Home to people of many cultures and religions, with food and music festivals to experience and enjoy as well as sports to play or to watch. Lacrosse is our official national sport but it’s the love of hockey that brings our nation together to celebrate!

July 1st, Canada Day, is the kickoff to summer vacation for most Canadians. Kids are out of school for the summer, families look forward to travelling, whether it’s to the cottage or an overseas vacation, it’s a time to relax a bit and enjoy those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.

Growing up Canada Day meant watching fireworks and going to our family cottage for the summer. Inverhuron Beach, near Kincardine, Ontario, is a lovely beach for swimming and boating. A great place for families to enjoy the warm summer weather. We had many campfires in the backyard and bbq’s too. I can remember picking wild raspberries, playing in the sand dunes and spending many evenings on the beach, feeding the seagulls and watching the sunset. Our cottage is long gone now, but the memories will always be there and Inverhuron Beach is a place I will always cherish.

Where ever you are this Canada Day, let’s raise a glass of wine or your favorite drink and celebrate our beautiful country!   Happy Canada Day!
